COCKBURN Cougars has re-appointed Fleur McIntyre and State Basketball League veteran Stephen Charlton to women’s and men’s head coaching positions for the 2011 SBL season.
McIntyre was a first-year head coach with the Cougars and led the team to a 6-16 win-loss record.
This score included a 73-56 win over 2009 grand finalists Mandurah Magic.
Charlton took the Cougars job on returning to Perth after leading the Goldfields Giants for the past four seasons.
He took the Giants to two championships and led the Cougars line-up to an 8-18 record, despite having seven players under the age of 20.
SBL director Tammy Van Lit said the club was “excited” about the announcement.
“The announcement of our coaches’ re-appointment on Saturday evening was actually met with great enthusiasm throughout the club,” Van Lit said.
“Cockburn are looking forward to taking bigger steps in the growth and development of our younger players for next season.”
