KALAMUNDA swimmers broke state records and set personal best times at the recent Australian Age Championships in Sydney.
Regarded as one of the world’s most competitive swimming meets in its age class, it saw the Kalamunda Districts Club put in fine performances across the board and finished as the fifth best WA group overall.
Brianna Throssell competed in 11 events, collecting two silver medals individually and two bronze medals in state relays. She broke seven club and four state records, which cemented her stellar performance.
Jessica Spittal also picked up a bronze medal for her contribution to a state relay and managed to set two new club records along the way. Ashleigh Juffermans and Kirsten Pannekoek also took part in the club’s medley relay team, which clocked a personal best time 2:06:87, three seconds quicker than the previous benchmark.
Stefano Sabatino was the only male swimmer from Kalamunda at the meet and swam in the 100-metre breaststroke event.
