MT Richon couple Cyril and Rose Fegan love volunteering and want to share this enthusiasm with others at the City of Armadale Volunteer Services Valentine Function on Friday, February 12.
People with an interest in volunteering can attend the City’s free morning tea at Armadale’s Memorial Park from 10am to noon. They should wear black and white attire in keeping with this year’s theme.
The Valentine Function is designed to share the love of volunteering and to promote this wonderful initiative among the local community.
Cyril Fegan, who moved to Australia from Ireland in the early 1990s, and his Scottish-born wife Rose together embrace the spirit of volunteering.
Cyril, a retired former engineer and teacher, has volunteered for many years as a counsellor and facilitator with a bereavement organisation and as a mentor for young students at the Australian Technical College in Armadale.
He starts a new volunteering role this year with the adult literacy group Read Write Now!
A keen volunteer throughout the past decade, Rose is keen to pass on her skills with others in the community.
This year she will help at the Dale Cottages aged care facility and the Armadale Community Family Centre as a volunteer, teaching basic computer skills.
“I feel Cyril and I have been very privileged in our lives; we’ve leart a lot and we want to share some of our skills with others,” Mrs Fegan said.
All volunteers living or volunteering in the City of Armadale are invited to attend the Valentine Function and are encouraged to bring a new recruit.
